The history

Maraschi & Quirici was founded in 1888 in Turin under the name F.lli Maraschi. During those years, numerous businesses related to the cultivation of medicinal plants for vermouth and bitters emerged in Piedmont.

The company’s dedication to natural ingredients and its ability to extract flavours and aromas from plants has remained a constant over the decades, allowing Maraschi to establish itself both in Italy and abroad, particularly in the beverage sector. After the war, with the development of the confectionery industry in Piedmont, the company built strong expertise in flavourings for baked goods, pastries, sweets, and confectionery.

Coinciding with its centenary, the company merged with Ercole Quirici S.p.A., a producer of flavourings since 1889, and the new entity took the name Maraschi e Quirici S.p.A. Strengthened in both its structure and workforce, in the following years Maraschi e Quirici acquired Costantino Rigamonti (1895), a company specialised in flavourings for soft drinks.

In 2003, the company moved to its new facility in Riva Presso Chieri, covering almost 5000 square metres. In the same year, Maraschi & Quirici acquired Cydea, a company specialising in the production of peppermint essential oils with international traditions and expertise since its founding in 1949.

On 19th March 2020, the company acquired the Salamina flavouring plant, a historic business in Milan founded in 1905, further strengthening its know-how in the alcoholic beverage sector, soft drinks, and the production of natural extracts.
